CHARACTER
NAME: Dean Winchester.
FANDOM: Supernatural.
CANON SYNOPSIS:
Dean was born on January 24, 1979. At the age of four, Dean was living in Lawrence Kansas with his parents and baby brother, Sammy. Then, on one tragic night in November, his life was changed forever as his father found their mother dead on the ceiling. John Winchester placed baby Sammy in Dean's arms, telling him to run out of the house as fast as he can, and from that day forward, felt the need to protect his brother. Their father, stricken with grief over the loss of his wife, made it his life's goal to track down the thing that killed her. After a visit with the psychic, Missouri, John learned of the supernatural world and set out on a journey to become a hunter, raising Dean and Sam to follow in his foot steps; "saving people, hunting things, the family business."

Dean grew up with a blind faith in his father, following his every order, shunning society, and living the life as a drifter and hunter. Everything about him was borrowed from his father: his leather jacket, his music, his car. Never given the chance to live in one place at a time, he made few friends. At one point, he fell in love with a girl, Cassie, but after learning about his 'career', she laughed and the two broke up. Dean never kept relationships, instead choosing one night stands and only keeping contact with other hunters. His only concern is his family - his hero, his father and his brother, Samuel.

When Sam was eighteen, he went away for college and Dean was torn between feeling betrayed or wanting the best for his brother. After all, he was only trying to break away from an abusive and sheltered life. Dean kept to himself, continuing to work with his father, and soon taking on a few jobs of his own. It wasn't until his father went missing, that he sought out Sam, asking him to team up to find their father. After the mysterious death of his girlfriend by the same thing that killed his mother, Sam agrees and the two go on a journey, fighting supernatural creatures and trying to find their father.

Along the way, their father leaves clues VIA coordinates in text messages or through friends. Soon, they figure out that their father does not want to be found. He is sending them out on hunts, letting them live out their own careers as hunters. Dean does not want to accept this, especially when Sam starts to display psychic abilities. He desperately tries to reach his father, countless times, and finally, he receives the word that his father knows who killed mom and is trying to kill it.

It was a demon.

Sam wants to help John, but Dean wants to continue going on hunts. The baby brother leaves, but soon comes back after hearing that Dean is in trouble. Sam saves his brother, and the two continue on to take on more hunts.

It is soon discovered that Sam harbors psychic abilities when he starts having dreams about their old house, and people he never met. Dean is skeptical, but follows his brother to their childhood home in Lawrence, Kansas. There they discover Missouri who fills them in on their father, their home, what is going on in their house - two spirits, a poltergeist and one unknown causing chaos for the family inhabiting the building. The boys purify the house, but the poltergeist is angry, going after them. Suddenly, the poltergeist is defeated when the spirit of their mother appears, casting the dangerous spirit out.

Sam’s dreams don’t end there. His next vision takes them to an abused boy’s home - Max who is killing his family using telekinesis. The boys discover that Max’s mother died in a nursery fire in the same way Sam’s mother had. Max goes crazy, wanting to kill them too, but instead kills himself.

The two continue to go on hunts, until they meet up with their father again after a nasty battle with the demon, Meg who claims to be working with the thing that killed their mom. Their father commands that they don't follow him, and the family isn't reunited again until there is word that they are closing in on the demon.

John's sons are determined to help their father now, and he cannot refuse them. However, amidst the hunting, tracking, and battles with various demons, their father is kidnapped, and Dean and Sam must infiltrate a demon-infested condo in order to take back their father. In the process, Dean kills an innocent man being possessed by a demon - a man attacking his brother. He uses the Colt loaded with special bullets - the only weapon that can defeat the thing that killed their mother.

Back at a hide out in the woods, the boys salt the entrances, and prepare for the demon's arrival. Little do they know that John is possessed. Dean catches on, and turns the Colt on his father. The demon is too quick for them, pinning them to the wall, and torturing Dean - squeezing his internal organs. John controls himself for a split second, allowing Sam to reach for the Colt and shoot John in the leg (despite him demanding that he kill him). The demon escapes John's body, but for how long?

The boys are in the Impala, rushing for the hospital as Dean is bleeding in the backseat. There is one bullet left in the Colt, and their chances are running low.

Suddenly, a truck hits the Impala, crashing them, and leaving the whole family unconscious and injured.

Dean wakes up in a hospital, dying. He is just a roaming spirit in the hospital and tries desperately to contact his brother, and his father, only succeeding in talking to Sam via a ouji board. He discovers he is being hunted down by a reaper, and at the last minute is saved when his father makes a deal with the Yellow-Eyed Demon to exchange his life for his son's life. When he discovers what his father had done, Dean is not pleased - closing himself up, taking risks, refusing to talk to his brother, and just going along on hunts to ease the pain. All the while, Sam is being hunted down by the YED, and being put up to tests for this big showdown between all the 'chosen kids'.

In the middle of their journey, Dean confesses that just before he died, their father told him that if Sam ever turned...evil, he was supposed to kill him. With undying love for his brother, Dean says he refuses to until there is no hope left for the two of them - even then, even then he will figure out a way to fix Sam's situation.

They continue on, suffering through possessions, monsters, tall tales until one day Sam disappears out of nowhere. Dean runs to Bobby's help (one of John's old friends), and they try to find his brother's whereabouts. They discover he is being held in a remote town in South Dakota. The two men drive to the area - reportedly one of the most haunted places in America - and slash their way through dense woods. Dean arrives just in time to watch his brother stabbed in the back by Jake, one of the specials chosen to be placed in the town. Dean catches his brother before he falls, talking to him, calling his name, watching him die.

Dean feels empty inside having failed his brother. In a moment of desperation, he drives to the crossroads, and makes a deal with the demon - one year for his brother's life. He doesn't care, kisses the demon, and Sam is resurrected.

The two Winchesters along with Bobby, and Ellen (the owner of a hunter truck stop) to the cemetery in which a Devil's Gate is located, and where Jake is going next with the stolen Colt. Sam shoots Jake down, but the gate has already been opened. Bobby and Ellen try desperately to close it, as Dean finds out the YED is in the cemetery. He shoots him down with a little help from the spirit of John Winchester who is finally able to go to rest.

Sam discovers what Dean had done in order to bring him back, and promises to figure out a way to get him out of the deal even though it means Sam would drop dead. Throughout the following months, Dean lives carelessly, sleeping with women, eating too much food, disregarding his brother's feelings. Deep down inside, he's scared to fuck about Hell, and being turned into a demon eventually after so many years - the very thing he hunts. The Winchesters discover a demon, Lillith, is holding Dean's contract, and they run to destroy her. However, it is too late. On the eve of Dean's deal, he is attacked by hell hounds, and sent to Hell.

ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND: Dean was born on January 24 to a seemingly normal family except for the fact that his mother was a Vescovo. This did not deter his father from falling in love with Mary, and having both Dean and later, Sam. The family was happy and peaceful for a number of years, under protection of the looming Vescovo family until one night, on November 2, Mary was murdered by Monacello agents in her own home. Before John could arrive, they escaped and he was left with a dead wife. From that day onward, John became obsessed with tracking down her killers, and officially became a soldier for the Vescovo family, dragging along his sons for the ride. Due to his dedication and perseverance, he rose up in rank and became a prized mobster of the family.

Dean longed to follow in his father's footsteps and embraced the criminal life. His brother, not so much. At the age of eighteen, his brother escaped from the confines of the mafia family, leaving an angry father and a betrayed brother. Dean left Sam alone, deciding not to meddle into the affairs of his brother's life. However, the Vescovo family thought differently, sending soldiers out to kill Sam's girlfriend, Jessica. At about the same time, John had been kidnapped by members of the Monacello family - "taken out on a long drive" as they said. Dean, convinced he was still alive, turned to the only other person he could trust - his brother.

Despite knowing who really killed Sam's girlfriend and how he must be feeling, Dean found his brother and begged him to come back to the 'family business'. (There was also fear that the Vescovo family was going to murder Sam next). At this point, Dean is so deep into the family's affairs that there was no way he was going to back out now. A part of him wanted to drag Sam back in, say "fuck off" to his desire for normalcy. They weren't normal. It was in their blood.

Sam agrees to come back much to Dean's relief, but little does he know where Sam's true loyalties lie.
